POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs diagnostic medical radiographic examinations of designated anatomical areas as ordered, according to established protocols and procedure of the Radiologist, for subsequent evaluation and treatment by ordering physician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be skillful in written and oral communication.
  • Must be skilled with HIS/RIS systems.
  • Provide imaging CD’s for patient referrals.
  • Schedule patients is central scheduler is not available.
  • Must be skilled with HIS/RIS systems.
  • Demonstrates basic problem solving and time management skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interact with other personnel in a positive fashion.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and to accept delegation of appropriate tasks.
  • Must be able to respond to voice paging equipment, etc.
  • Ability to direct staff to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures.
  • Answers and converses on the telephone.
  • Enters correct information into HIS/RIS systems.
  • Provide imaging CD’s for patient referrals.
  • Schedule patients if Central Scheduler is not available.
  • Competently operate x-ray equipment while performing x-ray procedures in a safe and optimal manner. Review medical record for pertinent clinical information. Transfer patient to imaging table, explain procedure and position the patient according to protocol. Administer applicable contrast media as prescribed by the Radiologist, by oral or intravenous means. Recognize and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reaction.
  • Review studies for overall quality. Operate computers associated with imaging equipment used to produce, process, and optimize clinical data.
  • Perform quality control procedures at the designated intervals on imaging and ancillary equipment to ensure compliance with Federal and The Joint Commission standards of care.
  • Organize daily work schedule and respond to emergencies as necessary.
  • Interact professionally with patients, colleagues, and other co-workers to efficiently complete daily tasks.
  • Cross-train in other modalities as needed.
  • Participate in continuing education activities as required by Caldwell Medical Center.
  • Perform on-call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet the needs of the department.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION

Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology, ARRT Registered, Kentucky Radiation Operators Certificate

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

0-6 months experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

1-2 years experience
